Steady as He Goes

Mark Gibbear, landscape material department manager in Edwardsville, has almost 20 years experience in the landscape/ garden arena, and he loves it. Since 1999, Mark has worked for Market Basket.

Mark handles pressure with grace. If a customer needs a bag or two of rock, bark, topsoil, mulch or fertilizer, Mark fills the order. If a customer needs a truck load, Mark’s ready. If the customer prefers a home delivery or a delivery to a construction site, Mark can coordinate it. He’s the contact person for natural stone, Romanstone, Keystone or Versa-Lok products.

Mark is also in charge of larger plants. He can help customers find that perfect tree or bush for the sun/shade area of their yard, informing them about watering and fertilizing.

“I’ve been doing this a long time and can answer most questions,” Mark says. “Sometimes I’ll get one I can’t answer, so I check with our other staff to get an answer for the client. We have experienced, knowledgeable people working at Market Basket, and we always want to help the customer the best we can.”

Mark has lived in Illinois for 20 years. Currently, he’s building a house in Bunker Hill. He is married and has a 20-year-old son.
